Oak Knoll Winery 2011 Winemaker’s Select Unoaked Chardonnay, Oregon, $12
By Great Northwest Wine on February 1, 2014
Best Buy! This was a cool and problematic vintage throughout the Pacific Northwest, but especially for those in Willamette Valley working with Burgundy varieties. This historic Hillsboro property harvested the Dijon 76 fruit during the first week in November from Dion Vineyard in nearby Cornelius, and the wait was worth it. Aromas of mango and pineapple include honey and lemongrass. The sweet entry continues the pineapple theme, backed by apricot, apple juice, pear and a finish of orange marmalade.
