Angel Vine 2011 StoneTree Vineyard Zinfandel, Columbia Valley, $20
By Great Northwest Wine on February 3, 2014
Carlton, Ore., winemaker Ed Fus spotlights Tedd Wildman’s remarkable site on Washington’s Wahluke Slope for this version of Zinfandel, which is a product of used French and Hungarian oak. There are classic Zin aromas of strawberry fruit leather along with black cherry, dark chocolate and violets, followed by complex flavors of Bing cherry and raspberry. The brightness of the structure provides a pleasing contrast to many Zins coming out of California.
