Marty Clubb and Mike Sharon have used Grenache off StoneTree for years in L’Ecole’s Columbia Valley Syrah, but they felt this vintage called for a vineyard-designate bottling. The harvest of Oct. 20 and the oak treatment — primarily with older barrels — makes for a drink that streams out bright red fruit tones. Aromas offer hints of Bing cherries, dried strawberry and cranberry and sweet herbs, while inside it’s all about strawberries and boysenberry as focused tannins and mouth-filling acidity provide for pleasing length.
