McMinnville’s Rob Stuart makes the wines for Monmouth grower Charlie Foss, who sells the large majority of his fruit to King Estate, Union Wine Co., R. Stuart and a few others. As the name would suggest, this Pinot Noir — one of two that Foss produces — is all clone 777 fruit, and the aromas broadcast hints of raspberry, rose petal and patchouli. On the attack, it’s dominated by black raspberry and black cherry with an enjoyable balance of tannin and acidity. Foss, who also maintains a residence in Sun Valley’s Elkhorn community, sells his wines strictly online — through his website and Amazon. This wine received a silver medal at the 2014 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.
