A product of a cooler vintage in the Horse Heaven Hills, the Martinez family still emerged with a worthy, food-friendly example of this lesser-known Bordeaux variety. A hint of oak in the nose leads to aromas of black cherry, lime peel, thyme and minerality. It carries a lighter body for the variety as flavors of cherries and currants mix with good acidity and a low-profile of tannin, backed by light vanilla, cherry wood smoke and a pinch more of thyme. Enjoy with homemade meatloaf or marinated flank steak.
