Best Buy! The history of this brand stretches back to 1962, and those founding University of Washington professors would appreciate the bargain within this bottle. It represents the first Cabernet Sauvignon since E & J Gallo purchased the brand and appointed Sean Hails as winemaker. The nose is reminiscent of Chukar Cherries as well as black currant, black pepper, pomegranate and cedar. There’s bold richness on the entry with black cherry and pomegranate flavors, which are surrounded by rounded tannins that grow as the acidity builds. That structure should fare well with tomato-based stews, wild game or roasts.
