Washington Malbec grows up: 7 to try
By Great Northwest Wine on February 23, 2014
Convergence Zone Cellars 2010 Black Cloud Malbec, Red Mountain, $35
Scott Greenberg continues to show delicious consistency at his boutique Woodinville, Wash., winery with this Washington Malbec that was taken Oct. 8 from Hedges Vineyard. There’s an extreme fruitiness to the nose that includes blackberry, plum, cola nut, lime peel and Hawaiian Fruit Punch, along with accents of black pepper and sarsaparilla. That theme carries to the palate that’s bold with rich boysenberry and plum, backed by mild tannins and a lingering blueberry finish.
