Luminous Hills 2012 Estate Lux Pinot Noir, Yamhill-Carlton, $35

By on February 24, 2014

2012-luminous-hills-pinot-noir-luxSeven of Hearts winemaker Byron Dooley reserves this brand for wines off his 11-acre estate near McMinnville. He didn’t produce a Pinot Noir in 2011 from his Salmon Safe site, but he’s back with this offering that opens with aromas of strawberry juice, raspberry and cherry with hints of peach, leather and moist earth. It’s rich and dark on the entry with sweet Bing cherry and dark strawberry. There’s no mention of tannin, making for a fairly juicy finish and good length.

Rating: Excellent

Production: 427 cases

Alcohol: 13%
