Perhaps no one has made more wine in Washington state than Juergen Grieb, who spent nearly three decades in the Yakima Valley heading up one of the Northwest’s largest custom-crush facilities. In 2010, the native of Germany struck out on his own to craft unique and delicious sparkling wines, and he’s brought on his son, Christian, to help run their family business. This off-dry sparkling Gewürztraminer is effusive with pretty aromas of pear, green apple and fresh-cut celery with a hint of strawberry. Inside are beautiful flavors of orange, lemon sorbet and light strawberry. The drink is fun, frothy and stunning because of its mouthwatering acidity to balance the residual sugar of 3.5%. This earned best of sparkling wine at the 2014 Seattle Wine & Food Experience Wine Competition.
