Even in cooler vintages, Bacchus and Weinbau vineyards along the Columbia River north of Pasco, Wash., provide the ripeness to produce some of the state’s most ageworthy wines, and this Merlot from both sites is built for the long haul. Black currant, red plum and blueberry taffy aromas are joined by lilac, mint and milk chocolate. The palate is boldly structured with president plums and pomegranate flavors.
