Rosebud Ranches on the Wahluke Slope, a 400-acre site near Mattawa, celebrated its 35th anniversary in 2013, and Wenatchee Valley winemaker Mike Scott has been a regular customer in recent vintages. This is one of more than 20 varieties planted by the third-generation growers, and the nose imparts notes of black cherry, plum, toasted almond, vanilla, cardamom and charcuterie. On the pour, there are tones of boysenberry, red currant and molasses, framed by chalkboard dust tannins and pomegranate acidity. Suggested pairings include prime rib and barbecued meats.
