Girly Girl Wines 2011 Merlot, Rattlesnake Hills, $17
By Great Northwest Wine on March 20, 2014
A marketing marvel of Woodinville’s Washington Wine and Beverage Co., this sister brand to Silver Lake Winery was designed by Karen Ward to appeal to women. What’s under the screwcap crosses the gender gap, starting with aromas of cherry, poached plums, vanilla and mint chocolate. The rich mouth feel of the fluid highlights boysenberry and sweet plums, backed by pretty tannins and bright acidity. For record, this character on the bottle is named “Kayla.” And it earned a silver medal at the 2014 Seattle Wine and Food Experience Wine Competition.
