There’s an investment of 100% French oak — 79% new barrels — which creates the mood of black plum, black currant, fresh cedar, black licorice, vanilla, allspice and dark toast. Inside is a solid reward of dark purple fruit with a rich tannin structure and pleasing depth. Suggested pairings include lamb, venison, a New York strip and wild mushrooms.
