Naches Heights Vineyard 2012 Riesling, Naches Heights, $11
By Great Northwest Wine on March 27, 2014
Best Buy! Phil Cline’s biodynamic vineyard near Yakima, Wash., ranks as one of the state’s highest-elevation sites at nearly 2,100 feet, which makes it ideal for Riesling. A product of a nearly peerless vintage, its aromatic profile includes peach, apricot and Asian pear with clove spice. Its rich entry to the palate focuses on a juicy Red Haven peach, and while the residual sugar is listed at 1%, finishing flavors of lime juice and apricot pit easily tackle that sweetness. This wine received a silver medal at the 2014 Seattle Wine and Food Experience Wine Competition.
