Chuck Reininger developed this brand as a way to differentiate his wines made from fruit beyond the Walla Walla Valley. His work with Chardonnay from Stillwater Creek Vineyard, a remarkable site in the Frenchman Hills near Royal City, Wash., is obviously done without any oak. The nose screams of lemon juice, cotton candy, lemon peel and minerality. That lemony theme dominates the crisp palate, too, which offers up hints of Granny Smith apple, sweet lime and more minerality. He describes it as “a perfect wine for brighter weather,” and he presents it with lower alcohol than many Chardonnays on the market.
