Dr. Steve Elerding maintains vineyards both in the Horse Heaven Hills and the Yakima Valley, and Olympia winemaker Josh Stottlemyer took this lot from the Prosser site on Sept. 21. It was tightly cropped at 2.5 tons per acre, harvested at 25.5 Brix, then spent seven months of surlie aging in neutral French oak. Those practices led to tones of dusty pear, Golden Delicious apple, orange and a twist of lemon. That lees treatment explains the oily texture on the midpalate, but there’s ample acidity akin to yellow grapefruit and pleasing peach pit bitterness.
