Boeing Wine Club alum Dave Butner produces small lots with some of the finest vineyards in the state. His work with this 160-acre site near Othello, Wash., highlights the herbaceous notes that Francophiles embrace, and it opens with aromas of green peppercorn and oregano mingling among red currant and dark cherry. There’s suppleness to the fluid that leads with red currants and black cherry, backed by a pinch of Italian herbs and a sprinkle of crushed walnut and brown sugar. Its medium structure features good acidity as smooth tannins settle in the background. The winery/tasting room in Woodinville is open to public only at Saturday afternoons.
