This Hood Canal boutique winery features the SS Dix on the label of its Cab, and this member of the Puget Sound’s flotilla of small ferries claimed more 30 passengers when it sank Nov. 18, 1906 off the coast of Alki Point. Aromas of plum, chocolate, black walnut, sarsaparilla and cedar transition to a drink that carries notes of red currant, plums and chocolate-covered pomegranate. Chocolaty, fine-grained tannins lead to a pleasing length. This wine earned a silver medal at the 2014 Capital Food and Wine Festival Wine Competition.
