Heymann Winery NV 3-Sum, Yakima Valley, $27
By Great Northwest Wine on May 10, 2014
A decade ago, Chehalis, Wash., winemaker Bob Heymann helped set the standard for nongrape wines. He makes quaffable red wines, too, including this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Merlot (33%) and Syrah from Yakima Valley vines, which is where his wife, Flossie, grew up. The nose carries hints of plum sauce, blackberry, dark cherry, cedar and black tea. On the palate, there’s a delivery of Marionberry, backed by high-acid fruit such as pomegranate and blueberry with mild tannins.
