Kramer Vineyards 2011 Estate Pinot Noir, Yamhill-Carlton District, $22
A fitting symbol of a high-acid vintage in the Willamette Valley, the Kramer family of Gaston, Ore., took that profile to the next level when it harvested this lot at 19.6 Brix. Aromas of ripe raspberry, strawberry and dark cherry pick up notes of Douglas fir and cedar. The palate brings more cherry and raspberry amid a juicy profile of cranberry and pomegranate. There aren’t any noteworthy tannins, yet the focus on high-toned red fruit should give this a long life in the cellar.
