University of Dijon product Florent Merlier was promoted into the head winemaking position a year ago by owners Carl and Marilynn Thoma, and the latest lineup of releases shows a smooth transition. The blend of clone 146 and 152 produce aromas of pear, apricot, cotton candy, lime zest, apple skin and celery. What follows are bright and elegant flavors of San Pellegrino Limonata, clementine, gooseberry and lime with dusty minerality and a Gala apple finish. As is their custom, Van Duzer Vineyards offers a suggested pairing — Roasted Spring Carrots with Coriander, Chili and Honey from the new Valley Commissary in nearby McMinnville, operated by mobile caterer Jesse Kincheloe.
