Les Collines Vineyard factors heavily into nearly every release from Joe Grant and Doris Wood’s 200-case winery, and this is the second straight year we’ve given our top rating to their work with this variety, this vintage shows even better balance. The nose comes with hints of strawberry fruit leather, cherry, crushed leaf, cocoa powder, cinnamon and minerality. It’s fairly big on the entry with red strawberry and dusty cherry with chocolaty tannins, followed by raspberry acidity and a pinch of black pepper. Enjoy it with anything that comes off the backyard grill. These wines are only available at their modest tasting room just northwest of downtown Walla Walla, and they will be open during Celebrate Walla Walla Valley Wine weekend.
