Victor Palencia ranks as one of the busiest and best winemakers in Washington state, and he sparkles with white varieties such as this Iberian grape. Those who can appreciate the crystalline qualities of Sauvignon Blanc should embrace this, which opens with aromas of dusty lemon, pineapple, pear, gooseberry, lime peel and the dusty minerality found so often in white wines from this emerging Columbia Basin region. The drink is clean, refreshing and driven by citrus as the blast of acidity is rounded out ever so slightly by the finish of lemon bars.
