Jacob Williams Winery 2012 Pinot Noir, Columbia Gorge, $28
By Great Northwest Wine on June 16, 2014
Indeed, the Columbia Gorge gives birth to some stunning Pinot Noir, and John Haw’s winemaking proves that again for this Washington winery along Highway 14 west of Maryhill. The elegant nose hints at black currant, raspberry, cherry pipe tobacco, vanilla and dried orange peel. Its delicate profile projects flavors of Rainier cherry, ripe raspberry, red currant and cocoa powder. Juicy acidity, currant skin tannins and minimal barrel influence makes this especially food friendly.
