Les Petits Fers Gamay Noir Oregon 2013 bottleThis young urban winery in Portland creates this yummy Gamay Noir by blending fruit from Methven Family Vineyards in the Eola-Amity Hills with Southern Oregon fruit from Rebecca’s Vineyard in the Umpqua Valley, and Thomas and Kate Monroe employ a process that includes both carbonic maceration in cement as well as traditional destemmed berries. The neutral French oak treatment for five months elicits aromas of black raspberry, raspberry, black cherry Jell-O and dark chocolate shavings. The drink is bright and elegant with flavors of Rainier cherry and strawberry-rhubarb compote. Silky tannins and gorgeous acidity make of a lengthy and marvelous wine.
