Robert Smasne’s work with many of Washington state’s top growers often shows in his Cabernet Sauvignon program, and this is one of his largest efforts. Rich barrel tones create aromas of Baker’s chocolate, black cherry, plum and coffee, backed by notes of mahogany, dill and mint. It’s a sturdy Cab with broad shoulders of plum skins, yet the fruit flavors cherry, plum juice and blueberry keep up. The finish is a coffee-lover’s delight with touches of mocha, chocolate and vanilla.
