Chateau Ste. Michelle 2011 Canoe Ridge Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Horse Heaven Hills, $28
By Great Northwest Wine on July 8, 2014
Vineyard manager Mimi Nye’s history with this site, first planted in 1991, has earned her such respect that winemaker Bob Bertheau credits her on the back label. The wine’s smoky, savory, spice and chocolaty nose could be mistaken for a Syrah, and there’s pleasure on the palate with rich Marionberry, chocolate-covered black cherry and enjoyable tannins. Blueberry acidity in the finish adds balance.
