Stoller Family Estate 2013 Pinot Noir Rosé, Dundee Hills, $20
Melissa Burr’s skill and Robert Schultz’s prescience in the vineyard show with this gorgeous pink from Wine Press Northwest magazine’s reigning Pacific Northwest Winery of the Year. Harvest began Sept. 13 — the earliest in the history from Bill Stoller’s estate — which helped Burr capture aromas of akin to a stroll through Bruce’s Candy Kitchen in Cannon Beach. There’s fresh strawberry, raspberry, dusty peach, cherry yogurt and spun sugar in the nose. Inside, the texture is bright, dry and refreshing with raspberry, cranberry, apricot and white strawberry. Plum skin tannins, minerality and Granny Smith apple add to the complexity. Suggested pairings range from salmon to roasted duck, vegetarian fare and hard cheeses.
