L’Ecole No. 41 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon, Walla Walla Valley, $40
By Great Northwest Wine on July 25, 2014
The historic little schoolhouse folks refer to these as their Walla Walla Valley family of wines, and five diverse vineyard sites — Seven Hills, Summit View, Loess, Yellow Jacket and Ferguson come together for this release. Dusty oak aromas are joined by black currant, plum and coffee, along with chocolate and lilac. The sizable tannins arrive early and stay late with the flavors of blackberry, plum and dark chocolate, backed by pomegranate acidity. These wines are built to age 10-20 years, so don’t go hunting for this pup in the cellar just yet.
