SYZYGY 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley $39
By Great Northwest Wine on August 1, 2014
One of Walla Walla’s more eye-catching brands, it’s much easier for newcomers to enjoy Zach Brettler’s wines than it is for them to pronounce his brand — szz-eh-jee. He alinged fruit from four distinguished vineyards — Conner Lee, Klipsun, Sagemoor and Wallula — with a 23-month cycle of French oak. Aromas of black cherry, black pepper, moss and moist earth lead to a rich entry of black plum, cocoa and buttered toast. It’s a big, yet integrated wine that won a silver medal at the 2014 Walla Walla Valley Wine Competition. Look for these wines at the Walla Walla Regional Airport.
