Walla Walla Valley astronomy buff Zach Brettler celebrates the summer 2009 total eclipse with this hedonistic Syrah he took off Les Collines, Morrison Lane and Seven Hills vineyards. There’s a spiciness to the nose of blackberry, black currant and raspberry, which also picks up a dusting of baby powder. Dark berries, allspice and black pepper play out on the palate with nicely integrated tannins and juicy acidity. It earned a silver medal at the 2014 Walla Walla Valley Wine Competition.
