Best Buy! One of the state’s busiest and most talented winemakers has enjoyed taking a bit of time — eight months on the lees in barrel — with his blend of Viognier, Chardonay and Aligoté off Snipes Mountain in the Yakima Valley. It comes across on the nose as an older Chardonnay with notes of pear, apricot preserves, lemon juice and fresh basil. There’s a juicy greeting on the palate, backed by a rich midpalate of Golden Delicious apple and Asian pear. It’s well-crafted shows pleasant integration of fruit, acid and barrel, all leading to a finish of lemon pith. Enjoy with pasta in a creamy sauce.
