This vintage marked the 10th anniversary under the red roof for winemaker William vonMetzger, and he pulls from 10 vineyards — including Pepper Bridge, Seven Hills and Walla Walla Vintners Estate — for this approachable Cab that incorporates all six major Bordeaux varieties. His choice of 57% percent new oak (dominated by French barrels) for 22 months creates a theme of blackberry, black cherry, cocoa and potting soil. Mild and fine-grain bittersweet chocolate tannins make this especially suave, and it received a silver medal at the 2014 Walla Walla Valley Wine Competition.
