By on August 22, 2014

northstar-winery-premeier-merlot-nv-bottleThree of the state’s top sites — Beverly near Sentinel Gap, Cold Creek and StoneTree — each within eye shot of the Columbia River near the Wahluke Slope — get some special treatment from David Merfeld. Rich and dark aromas of black cherry, cola, black licorice, toast and allspice are followed by a dense palate that follows with cherry and chocolate-covered pomegranate. The structure shows elegance with those chocolate undertones and gets capped by late-arriving tannins.

Rating; Excellent
