Here’s one of those examples where the wine inside matches the beauty of the label and blue bottle. Breathe in gorgeous aromas of Wenatchee Valley pears and apples, joined by tropical notes of fresh pineapple and jasmine as well as hints of cotton candy and baking spices. The palate is racy with bright flavors of fresh pineapple, starfruit and pear butter before touches of Granny Smith apple and Asian pear add to its terrific length. While it’s one of the more pricy examples of Pinot Gris you’ll find in the Northwest, this ranks among the best, and proceeds from its sales benefit the Seventh Street Theatre in Hoquiam. It’s available at the winery as well as the estate Farm to Fork Restaurant & Bakery. Enjoy with fresh crab cakes, and visit the Fall 2014 of Wine Press Northwest for the recipe.
