Milbrandt Vineyards 2013 Traditions Pinot Gris, Columbia Valley, $13
By Great Northwest Wine on August 24, 2014
Best Buy! The Milbrandt brothers began planting vineyards along the Wahluke Slope and the Ancient Lakes in 1997 and the resulting wines soon gained a following in the hands of a wide assortment of winemakers. Their own wines burnish their reputation for quality and affordabililty, and this widely produced Pinot Gris is an ideal example. The nose brings dusty lemon, lime zest and coriander with notes of minerality often found in Ancient Lakes wines. On the palate, it signs with flavors of starfruit, Granny Smith apple, kiwi and yellow grapefruit. The presentation is dry and delicious.
