One of the Walla Walla Valley’s elite winemakers, Holly Turner, didn’t skimp on this project that started with perhaps Washington state’s top site for Bordeaux varieties. Her program of 50% new French barrels develops aromas of dark toast, black cherry, black pepper, fresh-ground espresso and allspice. The flavor profile is bold with black cherry and dark plum, black pepper and sturdy tannins. This received a silver medal at the 2014 Walla Walla Valley Wine Competition, and there’s a long life ahead in store, but pair in the meantime with well-marbled steak or prime rib.
