The Horse Heaven Hills remains a sweet spot for Cabernet Sauvignon in the Pacific Northwest, and Grays Harbor winemaker Dana Roberts captures some Old World spirit with this balanced, food-friendly Cab. Aromas of blackberry and plum pick up notes of dried oregano, chocolate, clove and molasses. The pour brings red cherry and cassis flavors, backed by a big pinch of Herbs de Provence, juicy acidity and pleasing tannins. At the on-premise Farm-to-Fork Restaurant, they suggest serving this with Tomato Basil and Italian Sausage Soup. And a portion of the proceeds from sales of this wine go to the Westport Charterboat Association, a tribute to winery manager Kim Roberts, who put herself through college by running charter boats in the summers as a teen.
