Airfield Estates 2013 Vineyard Salute Ruby Rosé, Yakima Valley, $15
By Great Northwest Wine on September 10, 2014
Best Buy! In the past, a focal point of the Miller clan’s pink program was Syrah, but Sangiovese from their J-4 Block at their estate Black Rock Vineyard has begun to take off. Its wardrobe is one of a light salmon color — quite a change from their work with Syrah — and the nose brings hints of raspberry, cherry, strawberry/rhubarb compote and Red Haven peach. The peppy palate is dominated by that compote and those peaches, making for a clean, bright and dry structure and finish.
