Last year, Dana Roberts’ annual blend of raspberry and Riesling grabbed gold medals at two major West Coast competitions, and his latest edition is just as tasty. There’s purity of fruit in the nose with rich raspberry aromas backed by a pinch of raspberry leaf and peppermint. It’s pure raspberry on the pour, and the combination of spine-tingling acidity and a nibble of seed tannin provides camouflage to the lofty residual sugar of 12%. The family suggests pairing this with Crab Louie at their estate restaurant in Grays Harbor County, and proceeds from the sale of this wine benefit the Gen. Jimmy Doolittle VFW South Beach Post #3057 in Westport.
