Airfield Estates 2012 Mourvèdre, Yakima Valley, $28
By Great Northwest Wine on September 17, 2014
The Yakima Valley continues to prove that it’s a garden spot for this not-so-famous red Rhone variety, and the Miller family grows and makes one of the best in the state. Fascinating aromas of dark cherry, blueberry, pomegranate and plum pick up notes of chocolate shavings, brown sugar and blue corn tortilla. Inside is a bring entry of red currant and cherry, followed by a rich and juicy midpalate of purple plum and huckleberry. Fine-grained tannins are tucked beautifully in the background. Look for these wines at Airfield Estates tasting rooms in Prosser and Woodinville.
