Prosser vintner Gordon Taylor definitely has dialed in his Petit Verdot program using Double Canyon Vineyard as his 2010 vintage of this Bordeaux variety earned a spot in Great Northwest Wine’s Top 100 list last year. Opulent oak creates a noe of toasted coconut, crushed walnut and chocolate sauce with lots of fruitiness of black cherry, raspberry and Western serviceberry. The pour is dense and dark, bold and yet balanced with mouthfilling flavors of plum, boysenberry and blueberry. Taylor suggests enjoying this with bold foods such as dry-rubbed BBQ lamb, spicy Italian sausage or gyros, and his wines are available at the winery, Yoke’s Fresh Market, Chocolate Box in Seattle and All Things Wine in Renton. While his production remains the same as the stunning 2010, so does the price.
