Second-generation vintner Marcus Miller recruits from one his family’s coolest blocks of their 950-acre vineyard in the Yakima Valley to produce a delicious Pinot Noir from, yes, Washington state. The low-alcohol and elegant drink was created by stirring in barrel every two weeks and then without racking or filtering, which is apparent in the glass. The nose is fruity with plum, raspberry, red currant and strawberry, and it includes a pinch of black pepper. Strawberry, black cherry flavors make for terrific up-front flavors while mild cherry-skin tannin and pomegranate acidity create length.
