Mellisoni Vineyards 2012 Pinot Grigio, Lake Chelan, $35

By on September 30, 2014

mellisoni-vineyards-pinot-grigio-bottleRob and Donna Mellison were so inspired by Italy that they planted Pinot Gris in their Lakeside Estate Vineyard on the south shore of Lake Chelan, and they work with winemaker Katy Perry to produce an off-dry style. Aromas of kiwi fruit, starfruit and gooseberry include hints of marshmallow and cotton candy. Bright flavors of ripe pear, more starfruit and Circus Peanut candy are met with jazzy acidity to balance the residual sugar (0.7%). Suggested fare includes creamy pasta dishes such as Linguini with Clams, pork, lamb and artisan cheeses. The wines are available in the Lake Chelan area at Chelan Red Apple Market and Bear Foods-Chelan as well as at the winery.
