Daven Lore Winery 2013 Dry Riesling, Yakima Valley, $15
Best Buy! Prosser winemaker Gordon Taylor leans on grower/winemaker Patricia O’Brien of nearby VineHeart/Sebastian Vineyard for both of his versions of Riesling. This is a glass brimming with aromas of Golden Delicious apple, apricot, lime and slaty. The drink is light and refreshing with Granny Smith apple, Bosc pear and Limeade, and while the residual sugar is listed at 1.2%, solid acidity definitely gives it a dry approach. Taylor suggests pairing this with spicy fare along the lines of Thai Ginger Beef, and Mongolian Beef also should work well. These wines are available at the winery, Yoke’s Fresh Markets in Eastern Washington, Chocolate Box in Seattle and All Things Wine in Renton.
