The 2010 freeze took Double Canyon Vineyard out of production for the 2011 vintage, but Prosser, Wash., vintner Gordon Taylor wisely returned to this Pine Ridge project. Aromas of ripe President plum and black cherry are joined by lime peel, cinnamon, cocoa and cedar. It’s a juicy drink of ripe boysenberry and Bing cherry, followed with hints of bittersweet chocolate, dried herbs and cracked black pepper. The texture is fascinating and makes for a long and rich finish. Taylor enjoys it with rack of lamb, arugula salad and wild mushroom risotto, and his wines can be purchased at the winery, Yoke’s Fresh Market, Chocolate Box in Seattle and All Things Wine in Renton.
