Browne Family Vineyards 2011 Merlot, Columbia Valley, $35
By Great Northwest Wine on October 20, 2014
Waterbrook winemaker John Freeman continues to expand his pet project for Precept CEO Andrew Browne, who recently opened a tasting room on Main Street in Walla Walla for this brand. Canyon Vineyard Ranch, Mirage and Joel Hattrup’s acclaimed Elephant Mountain Vineyard came together for this medium-bodied Merlot that opens with juicy aromas of dusty strawberry, light cherry, vanilla and a stroll into a caramel popcorn kitchen. The drink is bright with black cherry, strawberry, nutmeg and white pepper, backed by a good balance of acidity with chocolaty tannins.
