This Spanish grape has found a home in Southern Oregon, where some vines are approaching 20 years of age, and this bottling marks the first vintage in which Juan Pablo Valot took over the role of winemaker at this historic Eugene brand. It captures aromas of red cherry, red currant and dried blueberry behind notes of brown sugar, cola, black pepper and toast. Inside are bold flavors of chocolate-covered pomegranate and strawberry/rhubarb jam with fine-grained tannins and a delicious finish.
