Fujishin Family Cellars 2012 Mourvèdre, Snake River Valley, $22
By Great Northwest Wine on October 22, 2014
Five years ago, Martin Fujishin began making wine on a commercial scale in Idaho, and he’s established a tradition of success with Rhône varieties, including Mourvedre, which he’s bottled on its own virtually from the beginning of his brand. This latest release shows elegance and fascinating spice tones of anise and white pepper behind blackberry and elderberry. The robust midpalate allows for a finish that leads with juicy acidity rather than tannins. This earned a silver medal at the 2014 Idaho Wine Competition.
