Boise High graduate Meredith Smith gave up a career in real estate to go back to school and earn a winemaking degree from Washington State University. Her quiet passion is Pinot Noir, but she shines in Idaho’s Snake River Valley with Rhône varieties, including this blockbuster Petite Sirah, a 19th century cross of Peloursin with Syrah. She captured aromas of black plum, elderberry, toasted oak, black truffle and charcoal, which are followed by a robust palate of dark plum, chocolate, coffee and bold tannins. This earned a gold medal at the 2014 Idaho Wine Competition.
